Pickup Artist???

Ok, there's alot of crap on TV lately. We've all felt the sting of reality television smack us in the face like a tidal wave. I have to admit that some of these shows are fun to watch, kind of like watching an accident on the freeway or something. But some of them are absolutely hideous (Paris Hilton's new BFF...cough cough!)

One of the more odious premises for a show I just witnessed (and apparantely its been around cuz this is season 2 already) was a show called The Pickup Artist.

Ok, if you've not seen it let me sum up. A group of losers are picked to live in a house (what else is new...isn't that how all these shows start?) This time around the guys...yes all guys...are to be schooled in the art of being a 'pickup artist' ...which I guess is supposed to make them more attractive to women.

Now let me tell you what I saw: A group of shy, awkward dorks pile up in a house and are taught lessons about picking up women by a goofy looking string bean in an assortment of ridiculous hats who calls himself "Mystery." Ok, the only mystery is what the hell makes him think that HE is an expert on women when he looks like a joke.

So they clean these guys up...good start, but the lessons they learn are all bullshit. They feed them cheesy ass lines and tell them the "rules of the game" blah, blah, blah..so in essence these guys are going out and using this product that was sold to them instead of being genuine and themselves. What happens when they run out of material?

The worst thing about it was the final episode. To find out who wins this silly show the final exam is for the guys to pick up a woman with the "tools" they've learned so far and get her to go to his bedroom...and what? Have sex with him? What kind of sick ass premise for a show is this? All its promoting is how to trick these stupid hos into having sex with some dude who is just looking to get laid in the first place. These guys aren't there to learn how to be a more attractive, likeable guy that is genuinely interesting and that women would want to be with...they are there to be phony as hell just to get laid. But I have to go back to this guy "Mystery"...who the f*&%# is this nobody? Please stop the madness and end these reality shows before someone's brain explodes from the overload of crap being directed at them.
